The cabinet was originally built without doors. Two center doors were added after the cabinet was finished; they had hinges that would allow the doors to open at a 90 degree angle to the cabinet. Later the doors were to be modified so that they would open flush to the face of the cabinet. A face frame was created using ¼" oak; butt hinges were attached in place of the original hinges to the doors and the face frame; the face frame was attached to the face of the cabinet. Then two additional flush doors were desired. These doors were mounted with butt hinges so that they would open flush to the cabinet face. A groove was put in each door so that the doors could close without hitting the interior shelf.
